The Investment in Your Family's Care: Rates and Packages
-
We see families invest anywhere from $250 to $50,000+ depending on their families specific needs and wishes. Our care plans are highly customizable but as a general guide, our postpartum doula and overnight care hourly rates range $50–$65 per hour based on experience and advanced training. Daytime postpartum doula visits are typically 4-6 hours long (ranging between $200–$390), and overnight visits are typically 8-10 hours long ($400–650).
-
After working with our team to create the care plan that’s right for you, we ask for a 50% retainer of the total care plan cost up-front. This secures your care, earmarks our team’s time for your family and is used to pay for your visits once care begins. When this retainer is depleted, we can charge the other 50% of the total fee, or if your care plan has shifted from the original plan, each visit can be charged individually from that point forward.
-
We value financial flexibility and will work with your family to find the best way to fund your care. Our range of rates allows us to pair you with the best doula for your budget, without sacrificing professionalism or high standards of care. We offer gift certificates so your community can help fund your care. For the most vulnerable families, we provide sponsorships through our nonprofit arm, Sanctuary CARES.
-
While we hope to see this in the future, it is very rare for medical insurance benefits to include postpartum doula care, but we encourage you to look at the details of your plan to check!
-
Sometimes! Look at the details of your plan. You’ll likely need to obtain a letter from a medical provider explaining why our services are medically necessary. We’re happy to provide or sign any supporting paperwork, if needed.
-
Postpartum doula care include hands-on infant care and feeding support, evidence-based education on newborn care, support while parents sleep and recover, emotional support for birth story reflection, guidance on postpartum physical recovery and comfort, connection to social and community resources, guidance to seek medical care when needed, meal and snack preparation, and light household assistance (laundry, dishes, tidying).
Postpartum doula care does not include medical diagnosis or treatment, deep cleaning, or long-term childcare.
-
Absolutely—flexibility is one of the reasons our model is different. Our Care Coordination Team is available 7 days a week to adjust your plan as your needs change. You have the control to scale up or scale down as you settle into parenthood.

-
We don’t think so! But it’s important to note we are non-medical support and cannot diagnose medical conditions, provide clinical advice, perform medical tasks, or assist with medication. However, we keep an eye out for common symptoms of postpartum medical conditions, and if necessary we will encourage you to contact your medical provider or other specialists. We can also accompany you to your appointments and hold your baby while you meet with your provider.

A night nanny's focus is on infant sleep and care only. Our doulas focus on the entire family and home, including the parent's physical and emotional recovery, light housework, sibling support, and evidence-based education—a truly holistic approach for the entire family.
