Specialty Offerings

Sanctuary’s team provides professional, evidence-based care that nurtures each family’s unique path through fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond.

With a team of 60+ compassionate, perinatal professionals our interdisciplinary team is not only made up of birth and postpartum doulas and overnight specialists, we also have infant feeding specialists (IBCLCs and CLCs), massage therapists, psychotherapists, family chefs, nutritionists, herbalists, and holistic practitioners, all of whom are honored to play an integrative role in supporting Sanctuary families as specialty needs and desires arise.

Infant Feeding Support

Our team of IBCLCs (Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants) educates on the physiology of newborns and feeding, breastfeeding supply and latch, treatment options for clogged ducts and mastitis, and more.

Massage Therapy

We offer a variety of types of massage including prenatal, postnatal, integrative, Arvigo Maya Abdominal Massage and Abhyanga massage, both in our office in Boulder or in your home.

Family Chef Support

Our family chefs focus on preparing healthy meals for you and your family. Our chefs do all the cooking in your home, prepare 3-5 dishes in each visit, can adhere to any food allergies, intolerances or choices, and can even do the grocery shopping for you!

Psychotherapy

Emotional needs are incredibly unique during the childbearing years. Psychotherapy with our dually trained postpartum doulas and psychotherapists can be very supportive to learn tools and coping skills specific to this dynamic season of life.

Bereavement Care

We work with people in all stages of pregnancy and postpartum, including those that end in loss. Whether an elective abortion, unexpected miscarriage, medical termination, late term loss, stillbirth, or postpartum loss, we provide nonjudgmental, compassionate care in your home.

Holistic Care Offerings

Together, our team offers a comprehensive range of holistic and integrative care, each contributing in their own unique way to a family’s overall wellness and wellbeing during this sacred season of life:

  • These are experts in the use of plants for medicinal purposes. They have extensive knowledge of herbs, their therapeutic properties, and how to prepare and administer them safely. They may provide personalized herbal remedies, tinctures, teas, and capsules.

  • Flowers carry vibrational messages that can help us come into greater alignment with our inner truth. These remedies are beneficial, sustainable and supportive. They can be powerful for mood support during times of transition or postpartum.

  • For centuries, across cultures and species, new mothers have ingested their placenta after delivery—some for ritual purposes and some spiritual—to replenish much-needed nutrients, mainly iron and protein. In addition to the above, consuming the placenta post-birth may help:

    • Regulate hormones in the body

    • Encourage oxytocin release

    • Encourage nutrient- rich breastmilk production and flow

    • Decrease the probability of developing postpartum depression

    • Increase energy

  • This relaxing and gentle external massage to your abdomen and back normalizes blood, lymph, nerve, and energy flow through the core of the body while inviting the “tipped” or prolapsing uterus back to its normal, happier midline position in the pelvis.

    LEARN MORE

  • Commonly referred to as the “closing of the bones,” this retreat provides a time out for the new parent to witness their transformation from maiden to mother while having their body “closed.” By sequentially wrapping the body with a long scarf—which literally feels like a big hug from head to toe!—we close the body after having been a portal to new. Other elements of the visit may include: tea and intention setting, space clearing, moxa treatment, realignment of the birth energy field, bodywork, herbal spiritual bath, a nourishing snack and/or a prepared meal.
