Mothers & Babies Circle
A Weekly Connection and Support Group for Mothers and Their Babies.
Come as you are. Bring your baby, your questions, and whatever kind of week you’re having.
Tuesdays, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM
Beginning September 8, 2026
Free to attend · No registration required
Whether you attend once or become a regular, our hope is that you leave feeling more supported, more connected, and less alone.
The early months with a new baby can feel joyful, exhausting, isolating, overwhelming—and often all of those things at once.
Mothers & Babies Circle is a free weekly gathering where mothers can bring their babies, meet others navigating a similar season, and talk openly about the questions, challenges, and experiences that come with welcoming a baby—whether it’s their first or they’re growing their family.
Each week, an experienced Sanctuary postpartum doula will help guide the conversation wherever it naturally goes—from infant feeding, sleep, and development to maternal recovery, relationships, identity, and returning to work—with regular drop-ins from a Fig Tree Pediatrics pediatrician.
Who Is the Group For?
Mothers & Babies Circle is designed for mothers navigating the first six months or so with a new baby.
The group is open to:
First-time mothers
Mothers welcoming a second, third, or subsequent baby
Adoptive and non-birthing mothers
Families who are new to Boulder or looking for more local connection
Anyone seeking friendship, reassurance, practical support, trusted guidance, or simply a reason to get out of the house
A note about language: We use the word “mothers” throughout this page because the group is centered on the maternal postpartum experience. Birthing parents who do not identify as women or mothers are also warmly welcome.
Meet Your Facilitator
EMMA STAPP
Experienced birth and postpartum doula Emma Stapp will facilitate the weekly group, helping participants feel welcomed and included while offering practical, compassionate guidance.
Emma’s background includes supporting women and children through a community-based domestic violence agency, studying at Birthingway College of Midwifery, earning a Remote Emergency Medical Technician certification, and teaching parenting classes. She brings a warm, grounded approach to supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
Mothers & Babies Circle will also include regular drop-ins from Fig Tree Pediatrics pediatricians Dr. Ali Levine and Dr. Kristen Kammerer, creating opportunities to ask questions and benefit from on-site pediatric expertise.
Your Questions, Answered

No. Mothers & Babies Circle is a free weekly drop-in group, and advance registration is not required.
-
No. The group is free to attend, with optional donations encouraged to help sustain the program.
Mothers & Babies Circle is a joint program of Sanctuary CARES and Fig Tree Pediatrics. Optional donations to Sanctuary CARES help make free and low-cost postpartum services and community support groups like this one available to more families, but a donation is never required to participate.
-
No. The group is open to the broader community.
-
Not at all! Mothers welcoming a second, third, or subsequent baby are warmly invited to attend.
-
The group is designed primarily for mothers with babies approximately 0–6 months old, but this is not intended to be a rigid cutoff.
-
The gathering itself is intended for mothers who have already welcomed their babies. Pregnant mothers are encouraged to learn about the group in advance and join after their babies arrive.
-
That is completely expected. Please feed, soothe, change, hold, or move around with your baby whenever needed.
There is no expectation that babies remain quiet or follow a particular schedule during the group.
-
No. Mothers & Babies Circle is not an infant-feeding support group, and all feeding experiences are welcome.
Infant feeding may naturally come up in conversation, but participants will not be pressured to feed their babies in any particular way.
-
We encourage participants to stay for the full gathering when possible, since the conversation and sense of connection build over time. We also understand that getting out of the house with a baby can be unpredictable, so please still come if you’re running late or need to leave early.
-
To preserve a calm, mother-and-baby-centered environment, we cannot accommodate older children. Please contact us if that creates a barrier to attending.
-
Mothers & Babies Circle is intended to remain a mother-centered gathering. We understand that there may be times when a support person needs to accompany you. While we cannot provide a waiting area for non-participants, there are nearby walking paths, and Fig Tree’s central Boulder location offers access to many amenities.
If you need help figuring out the best option for an accompanying family member, caregiver, or other support person, please contact us in advance, and we’ll be happy to offer recommendations.
-
The group takes place in Fig Tree Pediatrics’ dedicated community space, which is located on the opposite side of the office from the clinical waiting area and examination rooms. Fig Tree and Sanctuary are also committed to maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for mothers and babies, with attention to air quality and routine cleaning practices.
We kindly ask that families experiencing symptoms of illness stay home and return to the group when they are well.
-
Sanctuary and Fig Tree have a coverage plan in place, so the group is expected to continue if the regular facilitator is unavailable. Cancellations should be rare and limited primarily to severe weather or another unexpected circumstance affecting the safety or operation of the space.
Any cancellation or schedule change will be posted on this webpage and shared through Sanctuary and Fig Tree’s social channels.
