Welcome to Sanctuary Doulas’ blog!

Welcome to Sanctuary Doulas + Family Care’s inaugural blog! Whether you’ve been part of the Sanctuary’s family for years or have connected with us recently, welcome! We’ll be using this blog to share information about the various seasons that we’re so passionate about - pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond. Many of our doulas and other practitioners will be sharing about their favorite topics too, and we’ll include local pregnancy resources for Boulder, Denver and the surrounding areas.

For our first blog post, we’d love to introduce ourselves. In September 2021, we (Ali Batwin and Jess Hanlin) took over ownership of Sanctuary Doulas from its founder,  Michele Kolakowski. Michele started Sanctuary 8 years ago and laid a beautiful foundation of postpartum support for families in Boulder County. We’re humbled and honored to be carrying on the torch with growth, expansion, and increasing access at the forefront of our minds!

We each bring our own specialties to postpartum work outside of our training as postpartum doulas - Jess is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and perinatal mental health specialist, and Ali is an incredible chef and Certified Lactation Counselor. Most of our time over the last few years has been spent watering the seeds that Michele planted in 2015 and expanding Sanctuary’s offerings through an expansive interdisciplinary team of perinatal professionals (over 60 team members and growing!) and increasing access to this incredible care team throughout Boulder/Denver metro and Northern Colorado areas.

Our menu of services has grown to expand our offerings in the postpartum season, as well expanding to supporting families during pregnancy, birth and beyond - well into the child-rearing years! Feeding and sleep support (similar to night nurses or night nannies), integrative massage, family chef and nutritional consulting services, birth doula and sibling doula support, just to name a few! If you think any of these services might be of support to your family now or in the future, please don’t hesitate to click here to book an info call with us to learn more!

We’re so looking forward to sharing more - check back frequently for tips, recipes, resources, and so much more!
